Would demonstrating the A bomb to the Japanese made any difference?

It was one of the possibilities for the use of the atomic bomb. The Japanese would be invited to witness a demonstration of the bomb at the Trinity site. However, it was dismissed as the use of the bomb in a desert environment might not be appreciated properly. One other possibility of a "demonstration" was to use it on the remnant of the Imperial Japanese Navy. However, it was also dismissed as the destruction of ships in open water would not be appreciated by the Japanese and might be explained away as an overwhelming attack by American Naval forces. The Japanese military could defend against, ships, bombs and planes, but not the atomic bomb. It gave them an excuse to surrender in the face of an unstoppable weapon.
