Could a robot from the future kill you? Remember Terminator?

If a robot comes from the future to kill you, because you in the future...lets say banged his wife. Well apparently you already have survived into the future to make this happen....So what the hell happens when the robot tries to kill you? Will it be like trying to kill a hologram?
